Dr. Corey S. Maas is a globally renowned facial plastic surgeon based in San Francisco. He is board-certified in both Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. In 2001, Dr. Maas founded The Maas Clinic for Aesthetic and Facial Plastic Surgery in San Francisco’s picturesque Pacific Heights neighborhood. Education & Training

After graduating from the University of Florida College of Medicine with the highest honors, Dr. Maas completed an internship in General Surgery and a Head-and-Neck Surgery residency at the St. Louis University College of Medicine. He went on to complete his specialty training with a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

His skill and dedication to his craft eventually led to serving as the Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCSF for more than 11 years. Dr. Maas left the full-time faculty at UCSF in 2001 to establish his private practice, The Maas Clinic.

Dr. Maas is dedicated to advancing the field of facial plastic surgery in and out of the operating room. He has co-authored more than 150 articles, written many book chapters and been principal investigator for over 40 clinical trials. He lectures regularly at society meetings, both nationally and internationally.

Throughout his career, Dr. Maas has been an active member of professional organizations, serving on various committees and boards. His service includes holding the roles of President of the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery and President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Supporting the Next Generation

Dr. Maas is passionate about fostering emerging talent and amplifying fresh voices in the facial plastic surgery specialty. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, where he teaches medical students and residents in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.

In addition to his work at UCSF, Dr. Maas has been a fellowship director for over 20 years. He chooses one qualified applicant each year to receive advanced training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as how to conduct research in the field.

Dr. Maas believes that facial plastic surgery is both a science and an art. As such, he frequently spends his time outside the office improving that artistic sensibility by painting, drawing and playing the guitar. Dr. Maas is also a pilot and an athlete who enjoys skiing, biking, hiking and golfing with his wife and two sons whenever the opportunity arises.

In the Community

Dr. Maas believes in the value of giving back. For more than 15 years, he has provided reconstructive surgery services free of charge to victims of domestic violence through a special project sponsored by the American Academy of Facial and Reconstructive Surgery. He also volunteers his services to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that provides support for wounded veterans.

One of Dr. Maas’ proudest accomplishments is his 501c3 non-profit organization Beauty for Books. Since 2007, Beauty for Books has collected more than one thousand books annually for children in local Bay Area school districts. Beauty for Books has also established a scholarship to help current teachers expand their degrees by completing an online library-credentialing course.
